Which cities in America would you say have the biggest and best gay communities in your opinion?

Well Jalen I haven't visited all the cities in the states but I am going to give you a couple of cities that I think are the best for gay men of color!

5.) Charlotte NC

Charlotte is one of the best kept secrets. Although the scene is not as big as Atlanta or Washington DC, there is a lot of black gay life there. Lately there have been a lot of talents coming out of Charlotte. Charlotte gives you the feel of that good ol country life but with a twist. The cost of living is moderate and the nightlife is growing. CIAA is one of the biggest events in the country. If you want to live the quiet life, Charlotte may be perfect for you.

4.) Chicago

I am from Chicago so I can speak on the "Windy City". Chicago's black gay scene is a bit more underground but there is a vibrant scene there. If you prefer city transit, The CTA runs Red & Blue train line runs 24 hours and the city is filled with things to do. You have the Boytown Strip (Lakeview) where most of the nightlife is at. There were a few popular black gay clubs when I was there back in 2008. There was the Generator, Prop House, & Green Dolphin. Circuit hosted Urbano nights monthly. You have black gay pride during the weekend of Fourth of July. The "main" pride which is always the last Sunday of June, is one of more popular gay prides in the world.There is Jackson Park (the Chicago version of Piedmont Park on Sundays).  If you would like to live around the gays, I would recommend Andersonville, Lincoln Park or Lakeview area but the rent is not cheap so make sure yo have a JOB! If you want the city life with the midwest feel, then Chicago is great for you!

3.)Washington DC

Washington DC is the chocolate city for black gay men. Here you will see a lot of educated and professional type of dudes. Don't let the bouginess fool you though, they get wild at night! It's a very liberal area with a huge black gay community. DC is pretty much the black professional mecca of the US, I think you would do well. Rent may be slightly higher but salaries are also much higher. If being around a bunch of buppies is more of your thing, you would love DC!

2.) Miami/ NYC area- These two cities would be a tie for me. Both have a very large scene and both have a vibrant nightlife going on but it's not for everyone. New York and the cities surrounding it have much to offer but believe it or not, there is not much support as there should be when it comes to gay homelessness and gay issues in general.You gotta be a true hustler to live in the city of New York. If you can make it in New York, you can make it anywhere. 

Miami is the party city, it's where the beautiful people gather. Sizzle Miami is held down there during  Memorial Day weekend. There is a scene down there but it's not for everyone. You do have the burbs outside of the actually city that is good for the cost of living. The weather is beautiful when it's not the hurricane season. If you like island boys, canals and hurricanes, you will love Miami!

1.) Atlanta

Atlanta is by far the best when it comes to the black gay scene.There is a lot to do here but it does gets old pretty fast. One thing I like about Atlanta is no matter where you live, you will ALWAYS see "family". We are EVERYWHERE here. There is always a club open on any given night and there are just about as many gay clubs catering to people of color then there are of white clubs.  There is an unspoken rule that every Sunday is where all the gay black men hang out and shoot the shits. There are plenty of gay strip clubs, sex clubs and bathhouses here.

It's not for everyone though. 

Due to the fact that we do live in the "bible belt", the scene continues to suffer from strict laws and prejudice but we fight on. The jobs are hard to come by and if you do find jobs, they are in the OTP areas and suburbs which means you WILL need a car. MARTA doesn't run 24 hrs which can be a pain when you want to go out at night.  The nicer areas for black gay men would be Buckhead (Lenox,Cheshire Bridge area), Midtown (near Piedmont Park), Sandy Springs, Dunwoody. The gays are everywhere so whether you live in the hood or the nicer neighborhoods, you will always find at least two! 

The biggest mistake that most guys make when moving here is they don't have a job lined up already. It helps to have a job and have a hustle on the side for making money. DON'T MOVE DOWN HERE WITHOUT A JOB AND PLENTY OF MONEY SAVED UP.

These are a few cities that came to mine but I am sure there are many more out there.

One thing a diva never should do is piss off the gays. Apparently Ciara fell asleep during that portion of Divas 101! She bailed out on   a club event during LA gay pride and now she is facing a lawsuit!

According to the lawsuit, obtained by TMZ, Ciara signed a $10,000 deal to appear at The Factory on June 7 (tonight) … one day before she's supposed to perform on the main stage at the 2013 L.A. Pride parade.
Factory says Ciara had mentioned that she couldn't "perform" at Factory due to restrictions in her contract with the L.A. Pride event … but made it seem like making an "appearance" would be totally kosher.
But Factory says … Ciara unexpectedly pulled the plug on the whole thing on June 3, leaving the nightclub without a star for its big Friday night pre-gay parade bash.
Now, Factory is suing Ciara for breach of contract — and want her to pay for all the money the club spent to promote her appearance PLUS the cash they're losing out on thanks to Ciara's last-minute bail.

Ciara needs to hit up ALL the gay clubs and some lesbian clubs too! She needs ALL the publicity she can get. She can latch on Future's dick if she wants to….

Neither exist, and have been used to kill off millions of people with AIDS drugs, which is actually what killed people. Yes, many white people had to go to make it look more real, a few celebrities had to be used to make it look more real, but its all fake. Those letters are irrelevant, and HIV is all based on your immune system when they test you.

You can test positive for HIV, which doesn’t mean shit, then you can detox your body, eat only fruits and veggies for a month straight, and test negative for HIV a month later, as many people and researchers have proven.

They slam the black community with bad food so that your immune system will be low so when they test you, they can call it HIV, and put you on a list. All a scam.

They killed millions with the AZT Drug which is fatal, but now they are killing people with the AZT Drug under another name for cancer.

They want the urban communities to continue to die from Cancer right now so they can keep making billions off of the scam, so they must advertise bad foods in the hood, alcohol, drugs, everything to keep you running to the doctors for the cancer test.

You ****** been set up for 30 years to kill yourselves.

The AZT Drug was approved in 1987 by the FDA. They pushed aids as a gay drug, and they let some time go by for people to beg for a cure. So after pushing people to beg for a cure, they gave them what they wanted. Of course this was not a cure, but a way to get people hooked on something, as they had nothing. The entire thing was a scam, ran by the CDC because the polio scare had come to an end. Well the big bucks in the CDC is always monitoring or just fucking around with some major disease, this is what keeps the people active and jobs rolling. No disease,no need for the CDC.

Once they hooked it as a gay problem, they then killed off thousands of gay people, before using magic johnson as a pawn to push it to regular sex, and black people mostly.

Magic was in on the scam, and is now a billionaire today from it. Don’t matter how much money he got, his net worth is over a billion because he endorsed the AZT Drug, and lied about having this disease . He was the perfect face, a black man with a great smile and a celeb. If he got it, ANYONE COULD GET IT

Now I am going to take all of this with a grain of salt but I WILL say this.

The meds that they have  these people on are just as deadly as the disease itself. It's the same with cancer.

Not to mention, the Pharmaceutical companies, "non-profit" organizations and charities have been making billions off of HIV/AIDS for years.

I do believe that there is a cure and I do believe HIV/AIDS is a man made disease to control the people. 

I don't think we will see a cure in this country because they are making too much money otherwise.

I said I wasn't going to talk about this but Mister Cee made a comment during an interview with Hot 97 program director Ebro Darden that made me think. 

If you didn't know by now, Mister Cee was caught with his hands in the sweet sugar cookie jar again.

He insist that the undercover hooker was not a man and he is not gay.

Mister Cee explains, 

“I pulled my car over on Madison and Broadway. As I was calling a friend of mine, I was approached by a female Latina. I rolled my window down. She offered to have oral s–. The undercover female officer threw out a price for me to have oral s–. She said meet me up the street to do this. I said no (and) rolled up my window. As I pulled off all hell broke loose and cop cars got me. Where I was, they were doing a sting operation.”

Mister Cee blames the NY Daily News for twisting the facts and reporting the hooker was a man when it wasn't.

He went on to say this…

“Let me get a little serious. Earlier I said I’m not gay. Let’s say for arguments sake I’m lying, that’s my choice to lie. If I’m lying and I choose not to come out, that’s my choice. You know how many gay people are living in this world and have not came out. Some do (want to be secret). Look how long it took Jason Collins to come out. Gay people live with that everyday.”

“I don’t really care what people think. People have accused me of being gay for 10 years,” said Mr. Cee. “I’m not gonna sit here and really care…. I wear everything on my sleeve. When I’m telling you what it is, you have two choices. You’re either going to ride or (you’re) not going to ride. I’ve been going to therapy. I’ve been dealing with it. I can’t say that it’s not going to happen (again).”

With that he announced that he is going on a  hiatus. (Code: I am going to go into hiding until this shit blows over).

I really do feel for these men, who are afraid to be who they are. They do the most though.

There is a big difference between people who are accused for being gay and people just calling out the truth.  If you don't care what people think then come out. Who really cares anymore? Half of hip hop is full of gay people. 

Then he went on to say that IF he was lying, it' his choice….

So basically as long as you don't say it, you are not gay huh? I have heard black men say this shit out loud and I laugh everytime. It's always funny to me. REALLY BITCH?

Rapper A$AP Rocky is known for saying what is exactly on his mind. You might remember he saying that darker skin women shouldn't wear red lipstick which prompt another rapper to come for his own sexuality.

Well he recently did another interview in which he was asked about Jason Collin's recent coming out story.

This is what he had to say…

The “Goldie” rapper and fashion muse said that he respects men who come out, as The Advocate pointed out.

“I respect men more for coming out,” he said. “They joke on Frank Ocean a lot, but at least he ain’t out here frontin.’” He went on to note, “I respect gay men who identify it and they out with it. I don’t have a problem with gay people at all.”

The rapper is no stranger to standing up on behalf of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community. In March, during an interview with Interview Magazine he said that he treats everyone equal and he wants his listeners and followers to do the same. ~ Huffington Post

My own thoughts exactly.. I still didn't agree what he said about about black women and red lipstick but people have their opinions.. I honestly think Hip Hop is ready for an out gay rapper. We just need the right one to come along.

One of the most frustrating things about being a gay man, is that although we have the freedom to express ourselves in ways that go against the norms that have been set in place for men of "traditional heteronormative identity". This freedom allows us to be free of the fitted hats, sagging pants and hypermasculine behaviors, that are exhibited in hip hop culture. However, we still manage to confine ourselves to false identities. This is something that I will never understand, because what's the point of being gay, if you can do all of the fun stuff??



Additionally, many of us in the gay community, look at the receptive role (bottoming) in gay sexual experiences as something of a negative thing. The worst part, is that many people who condemn bottoming, are often the biggest powerbottoms in the community. In this session, we discuss this dilemma.

Kris Kross was apart of my childhood. I played the hell out of "Jump" "Alright" and "I Miss The Bus". "Tonight Is The Night" is still my cut. I wore my pants baggy and backwards too. I remember those good times even when reality was really bad. They got me through my pain.



We are losing a lot of our childhood heros way too soon and close together. The industry itself is the devil but after hearing about Chris Kelly's troubles, it makes me extremely sad. Unless you have been a celebrity, you will NEVER understand the pressure and the rejection. We forget that these people are human beings at the end of the day.

Only people in his position can understand how he was feeling. Only people who have dealt with addicts can understand his mother and his family. We ALL dread gettin' that "call". 



It's EASY to say just go to REHAB but one has to be be ready to get off drugs and face the PAIN. Even when you get off the drugs, the pain is still there. I just had to put it out there and get this off my chest. My condolences to all the families who have lost their love ones to addictions. It's NOT easy.

You might know TS Madison from her Youtube channel but most of you know her from her infamous scene with Sarge.

Many people don't know this but I am a huge fan of TS Madison aka The Big Dick Bitch! Actually I am a huge fan of her Youtube videos! She is hilarious and she keeps it honest! Not to mention she is the urban TS performer in the industry! She recently won 2013 EXXXOTICA Fan Choice Awards (T.S., I love you) Transsexual Performer of the Year. Of course we here at The Luckey Star had to show some love!

I am sure you guys remember Antoine Dodson. He became an overnight sensation thanks to this video this video!

Antoine went on to enjoy his 15 mains of fame in Holly weird before moving back to humble beginnings in Huntsville Alabama.

Recently he announced that he is no longer gay because of his beliefs as Hebrew Israelite. Check out the full deceits after the jump!

YouTube sensation Antoine Dodson has publicly renounced homosexuality, regarding his gay days as "dumb." Today, Antoine joined Huff Post Live host Alicia Entendre to explain the switch, and tell us about his new-found faith.

"If you really want to change your life, and just get rid of it, then you can. And that's what I'm doing."

 

"Back then I was dumb, I didn't know the bible — when you get older and get mature, things in your life change."

Two things I would like to understand….

1) How does one decides that he no longer wants to be gay?

2.) Does he really mean this or is he being brainwashed?

I am being serious as I am trying to understand. I try to give people the benefit of the thought and understand why they do the things they do. I try not to judge.

I have a family member, who is an Hebrew Israelite and to keep it cute, she definitely walks to the beat of her own drum. When it comes to religion or any spiritual beliefs, you have to be careful what you say and when you say it. It's literally like walking on eggshells. 

There is still a lot I don't know of that particular religion or way of life so I won't speak on it. I will say that it's definitely a movement that I don't want any part of.

Getting back to this ex-gay announcement. I don't believe that you no longer be gay. I don't believe a heterosexual man or a woman can turn gay. I don't believe that people make a choice to be gay. The choice comes in when you decided to A.)Continue to live a lie B.)Live your honest truth or C.) decided that you no longer want to act on your natural desires. Those are choices. Even if you choose not act on your natural desires, they will always be there. You can get married to a woman and have kids all day but there is a small inkling of you that will still look at another man and get the desires for dick.

I want to know what is really the issue with Antoine. I strongly believe that he is not living his truth for God but living his truth for those Israelites. I believe that he is being brainwashed and manipulated into their way of thinking. 

Now I can understand one wanting a family and a better life. This gay 'life' can  be toxic. Many people get lost in it and I can understand that. There was a time when I was being a little bit too promiscuous and partaking in partying myself. I was doing the most just to 'belong'.

There aren't many elders in the gay community that we can look up to and learn from. We don't have many people to show us the way of living. We forget that just because one is gay doesn't mean he has to live the 'gay' life. Your sexual desires is just a preference in the bedroom. 

I hope that if this is something Antoine wants for his life,  it is genuine. If he is happy, I am happy.

Debbie Downer… there is ALWAYS one of those in the bunch. You know the one, always in the back of the room sittin in the corner.

As you may or may not know, NBA player Jason Collins announced to the world that he was gay. Of course there were a few haters but overall Jason was welcomed with a lot of love and encouragement.  People has been tweeting left and right on my timeline all day. Today was a good moment for gay people today. 

And then it happen. 

"Why did he feel the need to come out and force it down people's throats? Straight people don't come out and say their straight"

"He only made ______ amount of millions, Kobe made more"

"He is not even well known"

"He is not even cute"

"He is a free agent, technically he is not active in the NBA"

There is always that one, who will bring down the mood. Most of the time, it's the very person that looks like you(Get into those apples).

Jason Collins was relatively unknown yesterday. It's not like he has a new shoe out or dating your favorite diva. He is not in any of the commercials  or starring in a reality show. Unless you follow the Washington Wizards religiously, you probably didn't know of him until now.

I must admit those comments bothered me. It got under my skin in a way that I couldn't brush them off. I am not expecting everyone to support Jason Collins but I would think people of the gay community would at least respect the fact that this man, who has been in the NBA 13 years, took a risk and came out as gay.  Not to mention a BLACK man.  He could have easily played out his career in the NBA and kept his sexuality private.

I respect gay men and women, who opt the discreet life. Not to be confused with living on the down low, they are gay and their close love ones are aware, but they don't feel the need to tell the world. I respect that. Not everyone wants to be a poster child. 

Up to now, Jason was one of those people. Today he decided to be open about his sexuality. Now a little black gay boy can dream about being an NBA superstar and not doubt himself for who he really is. Now young men don't have to believe those lies that a gay man can't be in the NBA. Now they can have someone to look up to.

This is not about forcing one's sexuality down other's throats. This is not about adding another 'gay' to the list. This is about change.Now people can't say that gays aren't good enough to play professional sports or 'they don't belong in the locker room'.  

It's not a big deal to some people but it SHOULDN'T be a big deal in the first place. He should have to come out.

I don't care if he isn't Kobe or Michael Jordan. I don't care if he isn't the most handsome (that is so vain and ridiculous). He may not be a big baller but he did make history and I thank him for it! I support him! 

He can now stand with John Amaechi, Kwame Harris, Esera Tuaolo, Wade Harris, Roy Simmons, and all the other professional male players who courageously admitted to the world that they too were gay when it was not safe to do so. 

He probably won't change world but he is slowly changing the minds and the perception and that's more than enough.

AND he is not retired nor is he currently a free agent!

Washington Wizards center Jason Collins admits that he is apart of the Rainbow Coalition in the new issue of Sports Illustrated…

In the self penned article Jason writes, 

I'm a 34-year-old NBA center. I'm black. And I'm gay.

In the article Jason says last year's lock out removed his normal distraction and forced him to confront who he really is and what he really wants.

Believe it or not, this is major! He is the FIRST to come out as an out gay man WHILE still active in the National Basketball Association! Not to mention he is the first BLACK man! History has been made and hopefully lives have been altered. Now little gay boys can dream to be in the NBA and still be who they are!  I understand why some people might not think it's a big deal (or anyone's business) but it's still important for our younger generation. They need to know that it's okay and they can be ANYTHING or ANYBODY they want to be!

You go Mr. Collins!

Not to mention he is not bad on the eyes either..

They each went on to say that they loved me anyway and if ANYBODY dare fucked with me, the fuckers will have to deal with them! I love my brothers!

I am so happy for Jason right now…I want his jersey NOW!
