Rest In Peace My Sisters (Lorena Xtravaganza , Brandy Martell & Paige Clay)

“To steal a phrase from President Barack Obama, transgender people aren’t a special interest group. Fighting for trans rights isn’t really about anything other than ending violence. Whether it’s the physical violence faced by Paige Clay and CeCe McDonald, the violence of poverty, or the spiritual violence of rejection, trans people know violence too well.”

Mara Keisling Op-Ed in The Advocate

As a blogger, who works very closely with the GLTBQ community, I feel it’s my duty to honor those, who have gone before us. Most times under tragic circumstances. Society too often accepts that young, black, transgender women are victims of violence.

Remembering Arabia Knight-Addams, A Gone Home!

….’I can honestly say, if I died tomorrow, I would be ok, knowing I gave love, I touched lives and I was loved back…With that being said, with tears and a smile, I can say I LOVE YOU ALL……MEAN IT!…’ -A.K.A.

It is with sadness that I write this post.  Today the GLBT Community, Female Impersonation Community, and the World has lost a soldier.  On Friday, April 20th, Entertainer Arabia-Knight Addams, went that Heavenly Home on High.

Arabia, was a mother, mentor, friend, and so much more to so many people. I had the pleasure of meeting her myself in 2011 at Scorpio’s in Charlotte, NC.  I admired her work and I admired her humility. I also admire and still admire her faith in God and her wisdom.  Whenever she performed or posted on Facebook, I was encouraged to keep on keeping on in life and to never settle for less than the best.

The Luckey Star sends out condolences to the Friends and Family of Ms. Arabia Knight-Addams as well as the many lives and people that she has touched.

Tribute after the jump!

Rest In Peace Dick Clark!

Dick Clark as a legendary television host and producer. He gave us American Bandstand, which led to shows like Soul Train and MTV’s The Grind. He was the first person to put New Year’s Eve on television, literally inventing the countdown gimic used by nearly every pundit program on American television. He, with the the late, great Ed McMahon, were trailblazers of the blooper genre. He was the quintesesstial television icon. The original Ryan Seacrest.

Rest in peace Dick!
