A wise old gay man told me once. Never eat a stranger's ass and assume everyone is positive! I never forgot that advice.
I recently got a letter in response to my post about HIV and bareback films in the urban gay adult industry….
Sup Luckey,
After reading that letter a former porn star wrote about HIV, A got a bit angry. Apparently he suggest tons of guys around pose as being HIV negative when they actually have a disease…this needs to cease!!!!
A few folks i know have joined www.qpid.me to help protect themselves in addition to using condoms. I think we need to encourage others to participate so these guys can no longer fool folks. i think u should check out the service and encourage your readers to join. time to end HIV man!

Not sure if that was just some random shamless plug but he is right. What people have to understand is that this situation is bigger than porn and it has been going on for a long time. It's not just (black) gay men who are spreading the disease, It's people. You have people, who believe that being HIV is apart of the gay life or a rites of passage. You have individuals, who purposely infect themselves and try to infect others. You have people who give up on life and don't care anymore. They feel like it's a punishment for their life. Most of the time it's pure ignorance and denial. Denial is a terrible drug by the way.
It's not an excuse but this why HIV is so common now…even in 2013. It's a scary world we are living in. Right here in Atlanta, almost half of the gay community is positive. A lot of them lie about their status in fear of not being able to find anyone that will accept them or stigma that comes with being positive.
Personally I don't think bareback films are the reason why so many people are positive now. People need to understand that bareback films and the performers in them are providing a fantasy. I will be lying if I told you that I didn't watch and enjoy them but I wouldn't dare practice that behavior if I was casually dating around. Have I ever slipped up and did it raw? Of course I did and it felt good but I felt like an ass afterwards and vowed that I will never do it again. Bareback sex may be natural but you can't take ANY chances these days. Best bet is to keep your dick in your pants and keep it pumpin…
I do understand that there are young men (and women ) out there who are easily impressionable though. This is why parents needs to teach the importance of safe sex and abstinence. I believe the church need to talk about it. The schools need to add safe sex classes to it's curriculum. We need to talk about it. HIV is no longer a death sentence but people are still dying from it every since day and they are getting younger by the years.
Living with HIV isn't exactly glamorous either, in spite of what you may have heard. The expensive medications, the frequent doctor visits, the thought of having to come out to every potential person that you date. It's not easy, but it's not the end of the world. I had a guy tell me one day that he wanted to be positive because he wanted the 'perks' of being HIV positive. The housing vouchers, the food stamps, the SSI checks….I just stared at him in disbelief.
I am ramblin' on but I thought I would spread this advice to my Starz! Assume EVERYONE is positive and don't be afraid to say no if one does not want to use a condom or get tested with you. YOU are responsible for your own body and health. Don't rely on the next person to protect you. PROTECT YOURSELF! 30 mins of a good nut is not worth living with HIV with the rest of your life!
