Back Then They Didn’t Want Me, Now That I Am Hot…

"Back then they didn't want me, now I'm hot and they all on me – I SAID"

I say those words to myself almost every day. It's true to me at this point in my life as a blogger.  Every day for almost a month, I have been getting random emails, phone calls, and social media messages from promoters, studios, fellow bloggers, 'entrepreneur', singers, rappers, dancers, hookers and everything else under the sun. They are all repeat the same conversation ' I was wonder if you would promote this on your blog' or ' I have something I want to start up and I was wonder if you…..'! A year ago, none of these SAME people paid The Luckey Star nor I any attention.

They want me to post stuff on my social media sites and put banners and such on my blog. Some of them want me to 'collaborate' with them on a project, which really consist of me doing all the dirty work. They want me to reblog it, tweet it, share it on my Facebook wall, and blast it on my e-blast. Those club promoters are the worst. They make thousands of dollars per night but yet they always play the 'We don't have any money in our advertisement budget'.

Basically they want to utilize my brand and my following, all of which took me years to build. Of course I am no dummy. I always let them know that has to be some type of even exchange or some type of compensation involved and it has to be writing in most cases. Of course they give me the ol 'I will have to get back to you' line. Meanwhile, I don't hear from them ever again.

It irks me sometimes because it's always my 'own' people who do this. I can only speak from my own personal experiences and I always seem to have this conflict with my own people. I know I might piss some people off but it's the real deal and I am kinda over it. I worked VERY hard to get The Luckey Star to where it is today and I don't feel that I am where I want to be. Meanwhile, there are some people, feel like they can just come over into my world and take advantage  of me.

I believe all successful people deal with this all the time. I am learning how to deal with it. I am quick to let a Negro know that he ain't getting nothing out of me for free. It's one thing for me to do a good deed and post  something to help someone out but for you to contact me and think I am suppose to do the work that I should be compensated  for free is an insult to me. I take donations and payment for advertisement. If you can't pay me in money, be prepared to make an offer I can't refuse.

This is a lesson to all up and coming bloggers and veterans alike. People forget that we as bloggers work very hard on a daily basis.  We don't make money just blogging. We make money through advertisements and donations. If we go a few weeks without blogging, it hurt our pockets.  If I gave everybody a freebie, I would be broke and out in the streets. That is not good business. I am not saying don't help people at all but beware of the stunts that some people may try to pull just to make a buck.  After all, It's never personal…it's business!

So leechers, stunt queens and opportunists out there! I am watching you and I know your tricks. You can try if you may but all you can do for me at this point is…
