Spread the love

Many people may not know this but Lil Richard is one of my favorite people growing up. For you youngin’s who don’t know much about him, let me school you right quick.

#1 Lil Richard IS the king and queen of Rock & Roll. He is the innovator. He is the originator. He is the emancipator. He will ALWAYS be the architect of rock ‘n’ roll! Fuck what they told you about Elvis..

Before Liberace.
Before Sylvester.
Before David Bowie.
Before Prince.
Before Michael Jackson.
Before Luther Vandross.

There was Lil Richard and he outlived ALL of them.

Lil Richard has been in recluse over the years due to old age. Some of us forgot that he was still with us.

That all change when an unrecognizable Lil Richard sat with some church folks and announced that he was no longer gay among other things.

“When I first come in show business they wanted you to look like everybody but yourself,” Richard said. “And, anybody that comes in show business they gone say you gay or straight… God made men, men and women, women.”

The “Tutti Frutti” singer continued, “You’ve got to live the way God wants you to live… He can save you.”

Apparently people are bothered by his statements in the segment.

Lil Richard has been in and out of “closet” for years.

In 2012, Richard openly discussed partaking in orgies with both men and women while also describing himself as “omnisexual.” In his words, “We are all both male and female. Sex to me is like a smorgasbord. Whatever I feel like, I go for.”

In 1995, Little Richard (real name Richard Wayne Penniman) told Penthouse,” I’ve been gay all my life and I know God is a God of love, not of hate.” Years prior, he stirred controversy for calling same-sex relationships “unnatural” and “contagious.”

He has discussed in many interviews what his life was like dressing in women’s clothing and wear “Pancake #31” makeup back in the ol days when it was not popular to be an “out” gay black man. Back in the 50s, you just didn’t talk about it. It was like a crime to be a black man playing for a white audience. Imagine being a cross dressing gay black man singing “Tutti Frutti” (Good Booty)…Yes Tutti Frutti originally was about gay anal sex..

Tutti Frutti, good booty
If it don’t fit, don’t force it
You can grease it, make it easy

Lil Richard is what you consider an ol skool queen. He has been on this earth longer than most of us and he may have seen it and experience a lot in his long life. I am sure at this point in his life, he is trying to get right with God. I can understand why people are upset with his statements but it’s ain’t anything he hasn’t said before and it’s definitely not something we never heard before.

The TRUTH is the black church is filled with nothing but crooks, black women and gay men (closet or not). At the end of the day, this man is STILL here for a reason. We don’t have to agree with what he is saying. I still will love me some Lil Richard and regardless we are ALL children of the creator.

God bless that ol sissy..
